READ: Proverbs 11
“Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14)
Who are your people? I think this is one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves. Who is there to support you? To challenge and encourage you? Who are the people that you allow to speak into your life?
I think this question is important because we all need people. We all need to have a small group around us who help us do life better. We need people close to us who can check our motives, question our actions, and lift us up when we fall down. We all need people in our corner.
I want you to thrive. I want you to talk hold of everything God has for you, in this life and the life to come. And I believe with all my heart that you can’t do that by yourself. Solomon says it himself-we fall with no guidance. We need others. We weren’t meant to do this life alone. We were meant to be in community. That’s why I love the local church-because, despite all of its (our) flaws, it can be the place where people connect in order to experience life change.
So who are your people? It’s very simple today-find them, if you don’t have them. Get people in your corner who are wise, have your best interests at heart, and want to see you thrive-and then give them the freedom to speak into your life, even if you don’t always like what they say. I can say this from personal experience-it will be one of the best things you’ve ever done. And your future self will thank you. Because in an abundance of counselors, there is safety.
